Lincoln Yurts

Eastfield Lane, Lincolnshire, England
1 acre hosted by Lincoln Y.
Five uniquely furnished yurts each kitted out for the utmost glamping comfort and complete with a private steam and massage cabin

As you turn off the A46 and head down a single-track country road, surrounded by endless fields and neatly positioned hay bales, it feels like you're pioneering on a journey deep into forgotten Lincolnshire. Then you find Lincoln Yurts, an exceptionally lovely glamping site, run by Darren and Katherine, two of the most hard-working, welcoming hosts you’re ever likely to meet. So welcoming in fact, even a guest's horse can be accommodated; now that’s horse-pitality (neigh?)!

Set on an 11-acre equestrian field, the five uniquely furnished yurts have been kitted-out to a high standard: some of the huge beds (with big fluffy pillows) are big four-poster numbers, while wood burning stoves, candles and tastefully themed décor provide real individuality. In the French and gothic yurts there are even pianos waiting for any ivory tinklers out there! Each of the five yurts has been astutely positioned so guests can enjoy a sense of absolute seclusion and every one has its own private bathroom, containing a loo, wash basin, heated towel rail and a luxury steam cabin with foot massager and rain shower.

Only a short drive away (7 miles) is the county town of Lincoln, which contains some of the finest examples of gothic architecture in the whole of Europe. The easiest way to get around is on foot as most of the attractions are within a few minutes walk of each other. Lincoln Cathedral is a remarkable, picturesque place and well worth a wander. It recently doubled-up as Westminster Abbey in The Da Vinci Code movie and for over 200 years was (reputedly) the tallest building in the world, before its wooden spire collapsed following a storm in 1549. Just by the cathedral entrance is the fascinating Steep Hill, a medieval lane connecting the modern town centre with the “Cathedral Quarter.” This cobbled street has an assortment of gorgeous old buildings, many of which contain the most interesting shops in the city.

Darren and Katherine have created something truly special here; from courteously warming your yurt prior to arrival, to their excellent local knowledge; these small touches add up to make Lincoln Yurts the perfect venue for a spot of posh camping.

An old-fashioned (in the nicest possible way) restaurant with subdued lighting, attentive service, and great food, all of which is reasonably priced. Onsite options include a hearty full English breakfast (served until 1pm, £6), fruit muesli (£4.50), and a bucks fizz breakfast (£15, serves two.) Champagne, chocolates, and flowers are available as welcome options. There's also a Costcutter supermarket (01673 862132) just down the road.
