The Snug and Hut are the perfect glamping double act. They’re like the Sooty and Sweep of the glamping world, the Torville and Dean of top class comfort, the Laurel and Hardy of nights beneath the stars. And like any great double act they have their own distinct characters, bouncing perfectly off each other. The Snug, as the name suggests, is the warm, fuzzy one, with a friendly face and open arms, while The Hut is the practically minded side of the pair – the one that gets stuff done. The laughs, the energy and the entertainment you’ll have to bring yourselves – they’re a bit more wooden than double acts of old – but when it comes to glamping The Snug and Hut are difficult to upstage.
Paired beneath ancient oaks in the grounds of Park Farm, on the Warwickshire-Northamptonshire border, this duo of delightful shepherd’s huts can only be booked as a pair, since The Snug is the only unit providing accommodation. With its plush double bed and wood-burning stove, it’s a truly romantic hideout, while a sofa can also be converted in to bunk beds to create a convenient family spot. Hop, skip and jump a couple of yards to The Hut and you’ll find that practical side. Through the stable-style door this kitchen, dining and living area acts as an extension of indoor space – the ideal answer to the problem of keeping shepherd’s huts small and traditional while still offering roomy accommodation. It’s the perfect combination and, with all the mod cons and a fully-fitted kitchenette, there really is everything you need for a week's self-catered stay. Best of all, once the littl'uns are all tucked up safely in their cosy bunks – the day spent den-building having left them suitably sleepy – Mum and Dad can slip next door for that relaxing glass of wine.
It's the small, personal touches that really shine here though – there’s an OS map in The Hut with a few notes so you can trace out a little cycle route, taking in the quiet country lanes a couple of the local pubs; if you’re running late you can ask for a pre-cooked meal to be stuck in the fridge for your arrival; and Jill's legendary homebaked goodies are the perfect welcome treat. Perhaps most delightful of all is that on colder, winter days, arrivals often appear to an already glowing wood-burner, lit prior to your arrival to put 'the snug' in The Snug before you even get there!
Nearby, there's a handful of National Trust houses and gardens to be discovered, and historic towns like Warwick and Stratford-Upon-Avon are similarly close at hand. A lot of the joy here, however, comes from really retreating back into the farm itself – a quiet place to shelter from busy life. Buy some of their own produce for toasting on the barbie and uncork a bottle of plonk for enjoying alongside – another winning double act in the world of happy glamping!
